I had such a lovely weekend. Made up of tasty poached eggs for breakfast, Wintry walks, roast dinners, a family party (and a few vino’s), snuggles on the sofa watching good & bad films (don’t watch Easy A- wasted 2 hours of my life!) and reading my book, The Great Gatsby.
January is the month of hibernation isn’t it? Instead of feeling blue about the dark nights and cold mornings I’m trying to enjoy this time. Warming up with huge mugs of Ovaltine (courtesy of the OH’s Mum – thank you!), getting back into the swing of things at work, planning crafty endeavours to earn extra pennies, receiving beautiful daffodils from a friend (highlight of my week), baking bread (first batch tomorrow), catching up on TV (still to watch-Sherlock & Xmas Downton Abbey), playing endless board games and feeling positive once more about the future, yay!
As for the walking, I’m pretty chuffed with the weekend walks we did. Firstly we ventured to Blakedean, a part of Hardcastle Crags. The following day, we headed to Old Town, the village above Hebden Bridge. We just walked and walked (with the occasional Green & Black choccy break!) and hoped it would stay dry, which it did. The roast dinner and bottle of wine afterwards tastes so much better after you’ve walked your little ass off – joy!
Thanks to lovely friends and family we’ve been looked after all weekend and ate like royalty (dons crown and sceptre). I think I might bake some bread as a thank you (If it’s good enough for Larry David…).
January is actually working out to be just fine and dandy so far. How’s yours?

That sounds lovely. I am so glad you have such a wonderful place to go for walks in. I’ve been walking more this week, but it is in New Cross which though interesting is not always as good for the soul!
