The Lakes

No sooner had the holidays begun, they had ended. Time indeed does fly when you’re eating party rings for breakfast and drinking lager and lime in the sun.

We went to the Lakes and had a grand old-time. We went camping on the shores of Ullswater staying at a fab campsite called Side Farm.

The view from our tent!

The day of the 'event!'

Mulled wine on the lake

When the boat comes in...

Carved tree of loveliness

My new Cath Kidston camping mug...ooh!

Island hopping

The rest of the ‘holidays’ (I work in retail!) were made up of working, writing, cooking, watching films, sorting clothes, listening to the radio and eating too many party rings – I’m kind of hooked.

Party rings!

Date in the diary…

Via

I am going to try to write this post without mentioning what it involves. Mysterious huh? Not really. It hardly takes a genius to work out what I’m talking about.

A certain event that is taking place on the 29th April 2011 has caused upset at my work place.  To close shop or not to close shop. To work or not work. I’m not going to go into it, but it does surprise me how lack of communication can really cause such a mess?! Well, I’m not working. Not so I can watch the said event on the telly, but to get as far away as possible from the bunting & union jacks. No offence, but I’d rather chew off my own arm. Bah humbug.

There are two things in the diary on that date. Firstly, my lovely friend’s birthday who’s coming to see us this weekend. Hooray! Secondly, our camping trip. Bring. It. On. I really need a camping fix. Normally I have Glastonbury Festival to look forward to but alas, the ticket fairy was not looking down on us this year (sobs into mug of tea). There will be camp fires, marshmallows, long walks, hearty pub dinners and bottles of wine. I might even pop up some (non Union Jack) bunting. I can guarantee by the end of the night, I will be shouting Withnail & I quotes as soon as the third mug of wine is drunk.

I think we may invest in a camp stove or bucket. I want to barbeque some Corn on the Cobs and chomp away like no tomorrow! I’ve no idea why perusing camping websites is as exciting as buying shoes, but it is (trust me). Comes with turning 31 I guess…

Here’s a few bits and bobs to make any camping trip fun:

Cox and Cox £17.50

Waldo Pancake Frisbee £5.00

The Camping Cookbook - John Lewis £12.29

Rob Ryan Enamel Mug from Bodie & Fou, £8.95

Jane Beck Welsh Blankets, £69

Can you smell the bonfire yet?

Happy Camping

It has been a few days since my last post as we have been away, camping in lovely St Ives, Cambridgeshire. We had the best weekend, catching up with friends from my university days and we got to camp in a beautiful field at the back of our friends parents home.

It doesn’t take much to please me but these things definitely put a smile on my face -  BBQ,  tiffin, chocolate brownies (Oh Isla), bunting and the gorgeous kids – Megan, Callum and Alfie.

I write about inspiring things in this blog, so, it seems fitting then to mention the girls -   Amy, Emma, Gemma, Isla, Louise and Lynne. I love you all very much and I’m proud to call you my friends. I can’t wait to see you all again so we can abuse ourselves with Lynne’s raspberry vodka and Emma’s ‘no fruit included’ tiffin and cookies, yum!
