Made: Origami Star Christmas Cards

Here’s a sneak peek of my handmade Christmas cards for this year. I had a pretty awesome afternoon yesterday finishing them off whilst watching Pan Am, White Christmas and Young Victoria. I also had mini mince pies  – sweet!

I made the origami stars using pages from an old book featuring Winter flowers, plants and tress. Oh yes, I like to fold things.

Are you making your Christmas cards this year?

Bonfire weekend and too much biscotti.

Bonfire weekend for us, this year, was spent at home. We’re in a convenient position on top of the hill so can see the fireworks for miles! I’ve been a bit sniffly so didn’t want to brave the cold this year. Yes, I’m a sap. Instead, I pranced around the house in my new glasses, we wrapped blankets around ourselves as we watched the park fireworks, watched many episodes of Breaking Bad and felt lucky to be warm and snuggly!

20111107-213208.jpgI like how the smoke showed up in this picture, even if the firework is out of focus!

20111107-213227.jpgI’ve eaten way too much biscotti this weekend. It is my continental friend.

20111107-213236.jpgA morning stroll to town. You can just make out the bonfire smoke from the night before…

20111107-213243.jpgA little bit of crafting for Christmas…

20111107-213249.jpgLots of reading…no books mind.

Hope you all had a good one too!

Happy Tuesday!

Heart Gallery, Hebden Bridge.

Nestled in the Calder Valley in a wee town I call home, lives a very special place. In this place, your senses are treated to the very best in contemporary jewellery and craft by designers/makers from across the UK. Exhibiting original contemporary jewellery, ceramics, glass, textiles, wood, furniture, accessories and stationery – Heart Gallery is a space for all tastes and purse sizes! Take a look at the Heart Gallery blog to meet the makers!

Five years have passed since Alison Bartram (owner) opened the former Baptist Chapel’s doors to her vision and passion that is Heart Gallery. Quite rightly, a milestone like that cannot pass without a celebration! Cue the Five and Fabulous Garden Party!

Don't mind if I do!

We were welcomed to these talented musicians...how lovely!

A tiny taste of the work exhibited at Heart Gallery...and those beams again (swoon!).

Cakepops, fizz, musical entertainment, new collections, a fashion show, familiar and new faces – It was a great evening! Congratulations and Happy 5th Birthday to Alison and the team.

Next time you are in Hebden Bridge, make it your first port of call. I promise, you’ll thank me. Now, I must begin writing my Christmas list…

Apple Crumble muffins

I was lucky enough to come away from my sisters the other day with a bag full of cooking apples courtesy of her apple tree. As soon as I got home I did a little research into apple recipes and came across this fabulous recipe from Ellie and for Apple Crumble muffins. So I whipped into town and bought a muffin tray. My friends, I’m never buying muffins again…

Delicious, light and gently spiced; the perfect accompaniment to a mug of hot chocolate! Check out the recipe here and have a go! Thank you Danni!

Antics.

My weekend was made up of Steak and Ale pie, vintage craft fairs, fabric bargains, Harold and Maude, Benny and Joon, cleaning floors, making samplers, recycling, eating cake, eating maize based snacks, wine, crochet, NY dreaming, bad hair and Mollie Makes.

How was yours?
