9 good things.

It is the 9th May today so here are 9 good things that are currently making me happy…just because.

My friends. This was us at the weekend on the first hen do of the year – a slumber party. I may have danced my socks off.

The prospect of a holiday. We’re not going to Australia until next February but the planning (for me) is as much fun as the actual going. I’m beside myself. I’ve begun looking for inspiring Australian blogs (yes, I know it’s a big place) for an insight. If you can recommend any I’d be very grateful (sneak you in my suitcase?).

Beth Jeans Houghton. Her voice makes me happy.

The Make My Dreams Come True Exhibition at Heart Gallery.

Food glorious food. Crikey. We had a spot of Afternoon tea at the weekend whilst celebrating a friends birthday. Sandwiches cut into triangles are the best. FACT.

Game of Thrones. The theme tune alone sends me into a frenzy. I love a bit of fantasy/gore.

Fruit. I have made it a mini-mission to eat more fruit. Fruit and I don’t get on very well. Vegetables I can eat until the cows come home. But fruit? Nah. I would happily go without. However I have been enjoying an apple a day for the past week. Steady as she goes.

Voting. I don’t like to preach about politics but I do think every person, who has the right to vote, should. I vote in respect, for those who fought for the right to back in the day. Hopefully one day I’ll vote because there is a party I beleive in!

Positive attitude. May has been a great month so far and I can’t help but feel happy about every aspect of my life. I’m really loving Hebden Bridge too – come on sunshine. But, the paranoid and anxious so and so that is me keeps on wondering when it will end. Must stay positive, must stay positive…

Happy Wednesday!

After the rain…

I’m tempting fate today with a title like that but on this day, April 30th 2012, I awoke to not one single drop of rain! Woop! Woop! I think it has something to do with us booking our flights to Australia – Mr. Sun is in our corner today! The trees are looking all lush and lovely too, like they’ve just eaten a big Christmas dinner. Om nom nom.

Anyhoo, as for the weekend, let me share a few highlights: Watching lots of Audrey Hepburn movies, a spot of cross stitch for a birthday card (well, I did this early in the week), fairy cake baking, tulip gazing, tea light making (using old GU ramekins), recovering an old lamp with lovely retro fabric, making tasty pasta sauce recipes (mmm roast vine tomatoes), my new butter dish, a bottle of champagne (gifted – hurrah!), and a spot of reminiscing of last years Easter trip to The Lakes – stunning.

It’s been a while…

Hello! *waves frantically* So, I am back! Well, for as long as our computer works! Crikey, you really do take things for granted don’t you? All this technology at our fingertips is great, but if you can’t replace it when it breaks/croaks it you can find yourself stuck! We have lost our laptop to laptop heaven (Amen) but luckily a kind friend has given us a PC until we’re sorted again (Hallelujah!). Anyhoo, enough of the boring stuff, let’s get back to blogging.

So, I hope you’re all fine and dandy and are suitably kicking Sunday’s ass to the kerb! A few of my antics over the past weeks included family time in the sun; days in the park, eating my first ice cream (outdoor) of the year, a spot of rowing, walking and sun bathing. Nesting at home; painting windowsills and sorting our little patch of grass, baking bread, reading, eating cake and watching movies under blankets. A spot of culture and thrifting; with visits to Manchester to see the Art Gallery, visiting National Trust properties, thrifting silk scarves and a butter dish (hurrah!). Seeing friends and eating the BEST roast lamb Easter lunch followed by a guitar-shaped birthday cake (no photo evidence – all in belly) and finally planning trips to see my University friends (first hen do of the year in 3 weeks!).

To be fair, I’ve not done as much crafting as I would have liked (only things for me!). I’ve spent so much time sorting out the house (discovered pesky mold behind a wardrobe which might explain my cough) and getting on top of housework. Trust me, this is no easy feat for me. I’m not the most organised person at home. I’m slowly getting there though (which may have something to do with A Thrifty Mrs Daily Housewifery Tips – LOVE HER).

Anyhoo, I am back and have posts scheduled for the week (see, I can be organised!).

Happy Sunday!

Feist, blue nails, red shoes and a happy Lisa.

This image of Audrey Hepburn pretty much sums up how I feel lately – happy! I think that sea air did wonders for my mood. I’ve had a really good few days of exciting meetings, lunch with old friends (way overdue), a few choice purchases, fizzy goodness plus a box of chocolates to celebrate new beginnings, exciting emails and chicken and chorizo bake for tea (chorizo is my best friend).

As always, I’m loving the simple things…

Time for tea …

Blackpool

Hello! Hello! Hello! So, there we have it. We saw the sea!

We packed my bag full of sandwiches, sherbet lemons, iPod and magazine and set out for Blackpool.

After missing out on the sunshine over the past week (but earning pennies instead) I was confident it would rain. I was wrong, joy!

To be very honest, the first part of the day was delightful. Walks on beach, breathing in the sea air, wins at the amusements (but losing at air hockey…meh) and tasty salad for lunch with fine cider. It was a nice way to spend the last few days of the Indian Summer.
The Afternoon? The novelty had worn off and we were ready to come home. A few wrong turns to get to the train station made us realise we wouldn’t be coming back soon. Not so pretty, my friends. Ah well, I’m happy we got to see the sea. I’ll sleep soundly tonight…
